Kakuhiro Nonaka was the first bamboo builder who made bamboo rods from hachiku that is endemic Japanese bamboo. The fiber constructions at the surface of the cane is less dense than Tonkin. Kakuhiro believes “The denser, the better” is only an old myth about bamboo rod material. Kakuhiro chose hachiku because he thinks it the best material for the lighter line weight rod to make rod lighter and smoother without losing the enough strength to catch the fish.
